Is Dressing up Important?

“Your personal style should evolve with you.” — Pharrell Williams

Being a professional for almost two decades I feel that, dressing up goes much beyond just putting on clothing, shoes and makeup… it can art for some, profession for few, lifestyle for selective, but majorly it is a fight between emotions and looks that plays a vital role in our overall health. (both physical and mental)

Our emotions are reflection of our dressing, we dress well when we feel happy and good, we don’t even bother on what we are wearing though we might have best collections hanging in the wardrobe when we are unhappy, sad, irritated, hurt etc..

So if dressing up is affected by our emotions, can’t it be vice-versa, if we push ourselves physiological to dress up wont it boost our confidence and self esteem eventually making us happy. Can dressing up be an every day effective discipline, can it be a way to take care of oneself, express oneself, and even exercise self control.

Have we actually ever gone inside us and understood why we do that, I feel we do that because we are yet to understand that dressing up is not for others, its not for others to judge us and interpret about us. It’s not for the reaction and interactions we will get in when people will meet us and see, how we look on a particular day. BUT it’s for our ownself, and its one of the essential most element of self love. It doesn’t mean we need to dress up on the standards set by society , culture or context around us, BUT it’s about how we want to feel each day about ourselves.

Beyond what society expects, dressing up every day is ultimately a personal decision. It’s about how you carry yourself, how you dress, and how you go through the day. Dressing nicely is about honouring oneself, not about making an impression on other people, for both men and women. It’s a way to express yourself, be kind to yourself, and take care of yourself that can make a big difference in your life.

Whether you’re rocking a power suit or your best pair of jeans, getting dressed up is a great way to express who you are, increase your self-esteem, and start the day off right. It’s a daily exercise in self-expression and self-love that serves as a constant reminder that you are valuable.
